Huntsman Set to Participate in Packed Program at 65th CPI Polyurethanes Technical Conference

The Woodlands, Texas – Polyurethane experts from Huntsman will be taking part in the 65th Center for the Polyurethanes Industry’s (CPI) Technical Conference, at the Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio, Texas from September 25-27, 2023.

A key sponsor of the event, Huntsman will play a central role in the conference, with team members presenting papers on a variety of topics throughout the three-day gathering and taking part in panel discussions.

On the first day of proceedings (Monday 25 September), Huntsman’s speakers will be sharing information about the latest polyurethane developments for the automotive industry.

  • At 2:05pm, in a session dedicated to automotive sustainability, the team will deliver a technical session exploring sustainable polyester polyol-based systems for flexible molded polyurethane foams in automotive applications.

Huntsman has also helped organize a parallel technical session on the first day, which focuses on flexible foams (specifically viscoelastic solutions) and runs from 2pm to 5pm.

On day two (Tuesday 26 September), Huntsman is sponsoring a technical session on Circular Economy: Recycling. This morning session, which starts at 9am, will examine a new strategy for more easily classifying mattress foams at recycling facilities. It will also explore policy advice to facilitate the collection and recycling of PU mattresses; the outlook for post-consumer foam generation; and recent LCA studies. In the afternoon the focus shifts to rigid foam, with Huntsman involved in two technical sessions.

  • At 2:30pm the team will deliver a technical session on advances in aromatic polyester polyols for the rigid polyiso industry.
  • At 4:00pm, the team will discuss a HFO-stable catalyst for polyurethane foam.

Huntsman’s automotive experts are also participating in a global automotive panel discussion about VOCs – providing thoughts on emission control. This facilitated discussion will see suppliers and stakeholders from across industry consider next steps in a pathway towards harmonization of approaches and methods.

On day three (Wednesday 27 September) there will be further insights and expertise from the team as Huntsman opens a session on Circular Economy: Renewables with a presentation about improving the sustainability of flexible foams for automotive applications.

Jan Buberl, Huntsman Polyurethanes’ Vice President Americas, said: “The 65th CPI Technical Conference promises to be another really exciting event. The agenda is as packed as ever and it’s great to see Huntsman associates involved in all aspects of the conference. We look forward to catching up with key contacts during the course of official proceedings and at the excellent networking and social events that this long-standing exhibition and conference always provides.”
