Huntsman to Launch Innovative New Products at American Coatings Show
The Woodlands, TX – Huntsman Corporation (NYSE: HUN) announced today that four of its business segments will be introducing new products at the American Coatings Show (May 8-10, Indianapolis, Ind.).
• Huntsman Pigments will be unveiling its new brand of ALTIRIS® infrared reflecting pigments that give coatings and polymer products the power to reflect solar energy in a wide range of colors, even dark and vibrant colors. Structures incorporating ALTIRIS pigments in their exterior coatings reflect the sun's energy, helping to keep building interiors cooler, reducing the energy needed to power air-conditioning systems and reducing associated costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Coatings that stay cooler suffer less from heat cycling stresses which helps prevent delamination and peeling, potentially increasing product lifespan.
• Huntsman Performance Products will be launching JEFFAMINE® RFD-270 amine, a novel aliphatic amine containing both rigid (cycloaliphatic) and flexible (polyetheramine) segments in the same molecule. RFD stands for “rigiflex diamine” offering a unique formulating option for composites, coatings, and adhesives. When used for epoxy resin curing, this product can provide synergistic processing and cured resin performance advantages relative to simple mixtures of polyetheramines (PEAs) and cycloaliphatic amines.
• Huntsman Polyurethanes will be introducing SUPRASEC® 9114 and 9109 MDI polyurea prepolymer isocyanates. These materials are designed to be used in combination with resin blends containing JEFFAMINE® polyetheramines and/or JEFFOL® polyether polyols for the production of high-performance polyurea and polyurea/polyurethane hybrid coatings. These products are capable of delivering superior low-temperature stability, resulting in longer polyurethane and polyurea seasonal applications. It also provides excellent substrate adhesion, abrasion resistance, compression strength and crack-bridging properties.
• Huntsman Advanced Materials will be launching ARADUR® 2978 epoxy curing agent designed for two-component, ambient curing coating and flooring systems that require good aesthetic properties, good blush and early water spotting resistance. Its unique combination of long pot life and fast cure offers a distinct advantage over typical curing agents based on cycloaliphatic polyamines, such as isophorone diamine.
“Huntsman’s innovation and R&D in the coatings market is executed with a consistent focus on driving durability, protection, processability, beautification and sustainability. These product roll outs are a reflection of our nearly 50 year commitment to and history of driving performance and innovation in the coatings industry,” said James Huntsman, President, Advanced Materials, Huntsman.
