Huntsman’s Port Neches Site Achieves GMP Certification for Propylene Glycol USP Production
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Huntsman Corporation (NYSE: HUN) announced today that its Performance Products manufacturing facility in Port Neches, Texas has earned a Certificate of Excipient Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Conformance, which applies to propylene glycol USP produced at the site.
“Everyone on the Port Neches team is immensely proud to have achieved this esteemed certification,” said Carlton Simmons, quality assurance coordinator at Huntsman’s Port Neches facility. “This distinction demonstrates Huntsman’s mission to ensure our propylene glycol USP meets the industry’s most stringent manufacturing, processing and handling standards.”
The certification was issued by International Pharmaceutical Excipients Auditing, Inc. (IPEA) and accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The facility underwent a comprehensive audit, conducted by IPEA, to validate its quality management systems, raw materials, operating procedures, testing laboratories, detection and investigation of product
non-conformances as they apply to propylene glycol USP production.
“This achievement was truly a team effort, as everyone at the Port Neches facility contributed to identifying ways our processes and procedures could be improved,” Simmons continued. “Moving forward, our team is committed to staying up-to-date on best practices for the manufacture of propylene glycol USP through ongoing training and knowledge-sharing across all divisions.”
Propylene glycol USP is often used as an excipient (non-active ingredient) in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. It can also be used as a humectant and emulsifier in the production of food and personal care products.
