Huntsman Polyurethanes Launches ECO-COOLING Insulation Solutions for China’s Cold-Chain Industry
New range with greater flexibility for creation of high-quality insulation with low-energy performance benefits
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 18, 2015
SHANGHAI, China - Huntsman (NYSE: HUN) today announced the launch of ECO-COOLINGTM insulation solutions for China’s cold-chain industry, offering high quality thermal insulation technology based on MDI polyurethane foam.
Easy to process and providing low thermal conductivity, Huntsman’s ECO-COOLINGTM insulation solutions are designed to enhance the production, performance and quality of different forms of insulation used to distribute and store perishable items such as food, drink and pharmaceuticals.
Huntsman’s ECO-COOLINGTM insulation solutions give manufacturers the wide variety of formulation options they need to produce high quality insulation materials with different physical performance properties – while also enabling compliance with increasingly stringent industry standards, ratings criteria and end-user expectations.
Su Bingli, Commercial Director of Huntsman Polyurethanes in China, said: “The cold-chain is a complex industrial network with many links, all of which utilize insulation. Requirements at all the different stages are diverse. For example, in the food cold-chain, polyurethane-based insulation is used in the structural panels that help create the walls of air-conditioned warehouses where fresh fruit and vegetables are first sorted and packed. Polyurethane insulation is also widely used in refrigerated trucks and shipping containers; in specialist transportation packaging; at food processing factories; and in commercial and domestic fridges and freezers.”
“Rising global demand for food and drink coupled with increased regulation is putting ever more pressure on companies throughout the cold-chain sector. In China alone the cold-chain market has seen double-digit growth in recent years. As novel cold-chain methods emerge, insulation manufacturers need to stay agile and innovative – developing new materials that are fit for purpose, energy efficient, cost effective and long lasting. Crucially, they must also be able to respond quickly to new legislative and environmental standards as they are introduced. Developed with these needs in mind, our ECO-COOLINGTM insulation solutions are sure to prove popular with insulation manufacturers looking to stay one step ahead of the market.”
Huntsman’s ECO-COOLINGTM solutions range can be used to create high quality insulation at all stages of the cold-chain.
