Huntsman Polyurethane Used in Custom Steitz Secura Safety Shoes, Made on Desma Machine, With FitStation Powered by HP

Everberg, BELGIUM - German safety shoe company, Steitz Secura, is using a polyurethane (PU) technology from Huntsman to pilot a range of specialist safety shoes that can be custom-made to fit an individual’s feet, using FitStation powered by HP. Huntsman’s certified PU midsole technology for multi-section injection (MSI) offers state-of-the-art properties in terms of comfort and durability. The resulting customized shoes are made using a combination of FitStation’s 3D foot scanning, using RSscan pressure plate technology, and a DESMA MSI molding machine.
Steitz Secura will demonstrate production of its PU-based customized shoes at A+A 2017 - the four-day trade show and congress dedicated to workplace safety, security and health. A+A visitors will be able to see the 12-station, direct-on DESMA machine in action in tent FG 3.9.1, outside the main exhibition hall.
Working together, Huntsman, Steitz Secura, Desma, FitStation and partners have created a complete solution for the automated manufacture of tailor-made, differentiated safety shoes. The material and machinery package that the companies have assembled reflects several key trends in the footwear industry. It fits with the continued push for automation and digital manufacturing. It also echoes increased demand for customized products - made-to-measure for individualized fit and function.
