Huntsman to Step Out at SIMAC With New Products

EVERBERG, Belgium - Huntsman is set to launch two new thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) products for the footwear industry at SIMAC in Milan in February. During the show, the business will unveil a novel TPU with a significantly faster cycle time, which is easy to demold and can help footwear manufacturers to improve the productivity of injection-molded parts. At SIMAC, Huntsman will also introduce a new, high-grip, slip-resistant TPU for the production of outsoles for sports shoes, safety boots and casual footwear.

Further information about both new products will be revealed in the run up to the show - where Huntsman plans to showcase other recent innovations. Additional products under the spotlight at SIMAC will include smartLite® 1560 TPU - an expanded, particle foam technology that can be used to create soft, durable and resilient midsoles. Previously only available as white colored beads, smartLite® PF1560 TPU is now available - for special projects - in a limited range of colors.

Huntsman will also be promoting its DALTOPED® Lite ENERGY and DALTOPED® X-Lite polyurethane technologies. Designed to fill the performance gap between conventional polyurethane and expanded TPU soling systems, these polyurethane-based products offer high levels of comfort, performance and durability.

During SIMAC Huntsman’s footwear team will also be available to talk to manufacturers about the creation of customized footwear - a major trend in the sector. In October 2017, Huntsman announced details of a project with Steitz Secura, Desma, FitStation powered by HP, RSscan and other partners. Together the companies have created a complete solution for the automated manufacture of tailor-made, differentiated safety shoes. The material and machinery package that the companies have assembled fits with the continued push for automation and digital manufacturing and echoes increased demand for customized products - made-to-measure for individualized fit and function.
