Huntsman Advanced Materials launches ARALDITE® 2021-1

Huntsman Advanced Materials launches ARALDITE® 2021-1 and ARALDITE® 2022-1
As part of its commitment to continuous product development and to ensure the sustainability of its structural adhesive range, Huntsman Advanced Materials has introduced ARALDITE® 2021-1 and ARALDITE® 2022-1.
These two-component, toughened, methacrylate adhesive systems replace ARALDITE® 2021 and ARALDITE® 2022 respectively, with the new products offering measurable improvements. Most significantly, there is a brand-new production process with secured sources of raw materials in place - Huntsman’s Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) adhesives manufacturing has been consolidated into just one dedicated plant in the EU and further to this, a simplification of Huntsman Advanced Materials’ internal supply chain has taken place to ensure faster deliveries to customers.
Another notable change is the new, adhesive casing design. The innovative cartridge has been created to include a re-designed application nozzle, which successfully stops cross-contamination between the resin and activator, thus preventing the cartridge being blocked by cured adhesive residues after the first use.
Other features of ARALDITE® 2021-1 and ARALDITE® 2022-1 include improved elongation at break; notable toughness and resilience to vibrations; dynamic loading; mechanical impact and assembly of dissimilar substrates.
With both products offering non-sagging and gap-filling properties, they enable easy processing and make vertical applications possible.
Following on from stringent testing ARALDITE® 2021-1 and ARALDITE® 2022-1 deliver good lap shear strength across a variety of substrates and a wide range of temperatures, as detailed in the diagrams below.
ARALDITE® 2021-1 and ARALDITE® 2022-1 also offer temperature resistance of up to 100°C and tolerance of non-ideal surfaces, which enables easier processing and, therefore, increased productivity.
Laurent Pourcheron, Marketing Manager, Adhesives for Huntsman Advanced Materials comments, “It’s a fundamental part of our business philosophy to ensure products develop and improve to meet changing technologies and materials. ARALDITE® 2021-1 and ARALDITE® 2022-1 are advances which continue this policy, aiming to provide our customers with measurable benefits in performance, processes and profitability.”
